Gardens Transformed
Located in Dublin six, this garden was transformed from being a dull and shaded split area into an holistic and cosy garden retreat.
The owner had a busy schedule and requested a low maintenance and secluded garden to unwind in.
Due to its South facing site the garden caught a relatively generous amount of sun in the corner of the garden for most of the day. This despite the tall residential structure dominating. The garden was designed accordingly.
Maximizing reflectivity Kota Blue Limestone was used in garden design for it has a bright and even surface and is not porous therefore retaining is shape and colour.
The first impression on entering the back garden was the oblong layout of garden drawing occupant into corner and end of garden. A practical design that used the boundary wall as a backdrop to raised beds pillaring a timber garden seat and interspaced with comtemporary timber shuttering.
A circular lawn was the only break in the surface of natural stone. A utility shed was located in corner for convenience.
trachycarpus fortuneii and antartica dicksonia (tree ferns) were used to as main specimen planting due to their low maintenace plant care required and almost year round evergreen nature.
